Find your STEM passion at an NYSF STEM Hub
The National Youth Science Forum (NYSF) STEM Hubs are designed to give students a broader understanding of the diverse study and career options available in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) and to encourage continued studies in these fields.
In 2024, the NYSF will run three STEM Hubs throughout the year:
- Melbourne – 1 July to 4 July
- Adelaide – 8 July to 11 July
- Sydney/Newcastle – 16 July to 18 July
What is a STEM Hub?
A STEM Hub is a non-residential STEM experience where you can connect with STEM pathways and careers around Australia. You’ll join exclusive behind-the-scenes experiences typically inaccessible to the public and connect with STEM professionals—a crucial networking opportunity for your future.
Whether you’re passionate about robotics, biomedicine, astronomy, biology, or anything in between, there’s a STEM Hub waiting to show you what a STEM career is really like!
Participants have the opportunity to:
- participate in tours of science and technology facilities,
- learn about cutting-edge research,
- engage with industry partners and research providers,
- learn about university, training and STEM career pathways,
- mix with other like-minded students from all over Australia, and
- attend social activities.
Eligibility
If you have completed Year 12 in 2023 or are currently a Year 12 student (or equivalent) in Australia with an interest in STEM, we welcome you to the NYSF STEM Hubs!
NYSF reserves the right to refuse the enrolment of any Participant if the Participant does not meet the eligibility guidelines, due to operational reasons, or where the Participant has previously breached NYSF’s Codes of Conduct.
Program fee
Program fee: $250
Registrations will close at 11:59pm AEST on 19 June 2024.
Keen to attend, but need support with the program fee? Please reach out to nysf@nysf.edu.au.
Interested in purchasing tickets for a larger group? Please contact us at nysf@nysf.edu.au.
The fee covers all programmed visits and activities. Transport to and from the STEM Hub, individual visits and any accommodation required are the responsibility of the attendee. Students from outer metro, regional and rural areas, and interstate may choose to stay with friends or family or organise their own accomodation nearby in order to attend the day-visits, however this is not a requirement. Participants are encouraged to view the program and ensure they can travel to the visit locations.
STEM visits
RSVPs for individual STEM visits will be available on a first-come, first-served basis via the Whova Event App. You will need to RSVP to individual STEM visits as part of your registration, so we recommend registering as soon as you can when it opens to ensure you can attend your preferred STEM visits.
Supervision
Participants will be supervised by Student Staff Leaders, Rotary volunteers, and members of the NYSF Corporate Team.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I attend a STEM Hub in a different state from where I live?
Yes! You will need to arrange your own travel and accommodation.
Can I attend more than one STEM Hub?
Yes! You can attend as many STEM Hubs as you want. Ensure that you are also registered and have paid the STEM Hub program fee for the additional STEM Hubs you want to attend.
Can I buy STEM visit tickets individually?
No. The STEM Hub program fee covers all programmed days of the Hub. As noted above, the Participant needs to RSVP to secure a place to individual STEM visits in a STEM Hub.
Tickets are sold out for the Hub that I wanted to attend, are there any more tickets?
Please send us an email at programs@nysf.edu.au as we may open more spots where possible.
Can I register now and RSVP to individual STEM visits later?
Immediately after registration, it is strongly recommended for attendees to download the Whova event app and RSVP to individual STEM visits as places could get booked out sooner than expected.
I have registered, downloaded the event app and have RSVP’ed to the STEM visits, is there anything else I need to do?
Yes. After registration, you will have received an email from NYSF with a link to a Program Agreement Form that needs to be reviewed and signed by yourself (and your parent/guardian, if you are below 18). The Program Agreement needs to be fully signed and completed before the due date, otherwise, we may cancel your registration and remove you from the RSVP list for STEM visits.
