The Channel 10 series brought together students from across Australia to tackle a series of high-energy STEM challenges, from codebreaking to drone flying and rocket launches. Working as part of the Pink Team, James and his teammates impressed with their collaboration, creative thinking and problem-solving under pressure, ultimately securing the win in a closely fought finale.
The program also featured guidance from Australian Defence Force personnel, highlighting the real-world applications of STEM in defence, and reflecting the kind of pathways NYSF Year 12 Program participants are also exposed to by our partner, ADF Careers.

James attended our 2026 Year 12 Program in Canberra, and was enthusiastically engaged in the program from start to finish.
For those who know James from NYSF, this achievement comes as no surprise. A highly engaged participant during the program, he threw himself into every opportunity and even documented his NYSF experience on LinkedIn, sharing reflections, insights and behind-the-scenes moments from his time in Canberra.
Speaking of his experience on the Ultimate Classrom, James described it as an amazing experience.
Beyond the screen, James continues to channel his passion for STEM into meaningful, hands-on pursuits. As a Cadet Flight Sergeant with the 321 Air Force Cadet Squadron in Newcastle, he develops leadership and technical skills, while also giving back to his community by creating 3D military models to honour retiring veterans. At school, he leads STEM initiatives through an Engineering Traineeship, helping to inspire others to get involved.

From NYSF to national television, James is a fantastic example of where curiosity, initiative and a passion for STEM can lead and we can’t wait to see what he does next.
