We understand everyone’s situation is unique. To accommodate the new-look 2022 NYSF Year 12 Program, we have expanded our criteria to give as many students as possible the chance to participate in our programs.
To be eligible for an NYSF Scholarship, you must:
- be studying in Year 11 in Australia
- be intending on continuing your studies at Year 12 level in 2022
- have submitted your application to the 2022 NYSF Year 12 Program application
- and satisfy at least one of the following criteria.
You can apply for funding if you are:
- experiencing financial hardship or another disadvantage that negatively impacts your ability to attend the program
- living in a regional or remote location and attending an in-person visit may require travel and accommodation.
Here are some examples of common circumstances for scholarship funding.
Jane has Rotary Club sponsorship that will help cover the attendance fee. Jane lives in far north Queensland and wants to attend an in-person hub. She will need a flight to Brisbane and accommodation for a few days to attend the in-person hub. Jane can apply for funding for travel and accommodation only, up to a maximum of $1,900.
Jordan is planning to work at their local supermarket during the summer holidays to help with family expenses. Jordan would like to take time off work so they can participate in the Year 12 Program but has difficulty paying the program fee. Jordan can apply for funding of up to $1,900 towards their program fee, as they are experiencing financial hardship.
The Scholarship is a discount
The Access and Equity Scholarship is a discount off the NYSF Year 12 Program fees.
While travel and accommodation costs to attend an in-person hub may be considered when determining the amount of any scholarship, we do not reimburse you for these travel and accommodation costs.
If you are successful in your scholarship application you may receive a discount off the NYSF Year 12 Program fees up to $1,900.
NYSF has a digital alternative
The COVID-19 pandemic has changed many parts of our lives. For the NYSF, it has meant we now have a completely digital program you can participate in from anywhere.
While the NYSF will consider your travel costs to an NYSF hub when assessing Access and Equity Scholarship Applications, the NYSF does not encourage or require travel in circumstances where there may be health or other risks to participants and their families.
If you do receive an Access and Equity Scholarship, and circumstances change meaning you no longer can or want to travel to an NYSF hub to attend an in-person program, we will instead enrol you in our digital program.
This will not affect your scholarship because your scholarship is a discount off program fees and does not directly cover travel costs.
The NYSF cannot control or predict lockdowns and travel restrictions between states and territories during the pandemic. We also want to give as many students as possible the chance to participate in our programs. This is why we have a new digital alternative, which you can read about on the 2022 NYSF Year 12 Program page.
