The NYSF Year 12 Program is a 10-day residential program designed to give students a broader understanding of the diverse study and career options available in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) and to encourage continued studies in these fields. At the NYSF Year 12 Program run in January each year, participants will:
- visit science and technology related laboratories and facilities,
- go on site tours,
- listen to lectures,
- take part in workshops,
- go to social events, and
- participate in group activities that improve communication and presentation skills.
The NYSF is run by youth for youth, with a certain number of participants being selected each year to come back and participate in our Student Staff Leadership Program (SSLP) in preparation to help run the program the year after they first attended.

How much does it cost to attend the NYSF Year 12 program?
The standard fee to attend the program in 2020 is $3,150. This fee is all-inclusive, covering the participant’s travel to and from the program from one of our designated ports around Australia, as well as all meals, accommodation, transport during the program and any entry fees. For those who may have difficulties paying this fee, there are options available.
We have forty Equity Scholarships available to cover $1,000 of the fee. We encourage everyone to view the eligibility requirements and apply. You must submit an Equity Scholarship application within the same timeframe as your NYSF Year 12 Program application. We thank the National Innovation Science Agenda (NISA) and Bayer Australia for their generous contributions to the Equity Scholarship Fund.
There may also be further opportunities to cover part or all of the cost through community fundraising, sponsorship, or contributions from an endorsing Rotary Club. We encourage you to explore all of these options and you can read more about Rotary endorsement on our How to Apply page.
