Policy

The National Youth Science Forum (NYSF) is committed to promoting and protecting the safety and wellbeing of all children. We have zero tolerance for child abuse.

Everyone working at NYSF (including our volunteers) is responsible for the care and protection of children and reporting information about child abuse.

If any person believes a child is in immediate risk of abuse, telephone 000.

National Youth Science Forum Commitment to Child Safety (Commitment to Child Safety)

Purpose

The purpose of this Commitment to Child Safety is to make a public statement declaring National Youth Science Forum’s (NYSF) commitment to child safety.

Scope

This Commitment to Child Safety applies to all NYSF staff, contractors, volunteers, NYSF program and event participants, and NYSF program and event content providers, who work with children and young people.

Commitment to Child Safety

NYSF is committed to providing children and young people with a safe and nurturing environment in which they can learn and thrive.

NYSF supports, values and respects all children and young people, and is committed to their safety, participation and empowerment.

NYSF has zero tolerance for all forms of child abuse or harm against children and young people, and all allegations will be treated seriously in accordance with our policies and procedures.

NYSF is committed to providing a culturally safe environment in which the diverse and unique identities and experiences of Aboriginal children and young people are respected and valued.

The safety, welfare and best interests of the child are paramount.

Monitoring, Evaluation and Review

This Commitment to Child Safety will be evaluated and reviewed on an as needs basis, or annually.
